Cheshvan 1828 Jewish Calendar

October 9 – November 6, 1828 · 5589

Bring Tishrei into everyday life

After Tishrei's busy calendar, Cheshvan gives us room to carry our resolutions into ordinary days. In Chabad life, Chof Cheshvan brings the month a special focus on learning and education.

What does Cheshvan mean?

Cheshvan is also called Marcheshvan (Mar Cheshvan). Traditional explanations connect mar with bitterness, since the month has no festivals, or with a drop of water, pointing to the rainy season. These are interpretations of the name, rather than a single literal translation. It is the eighth month when counting from Nissan.
